Electric Toothbrush Production Process Explained

Electric Toothbrush Production Process Explained

Understanding how electric toothbrushes are manufactured helps buyers set realistic expectations for lead times, quality control, and customization options. Here's a step-by-step overview of the production process at a professional OEM factory.

Step 1: Component Sourcing

Key components include the sonic motor, PCB (circuit board), rechargeable battery, handle shell (injection-molded plastic), brush head, and charging base. Top factories source motors and PCBs in-house or from verified suppliers to maintain quality consistency.

Step 2: Injection Molding

The handle shell and internal housing are produced via injection molding. For custom OEM products, this is where tooling costs apply. Standard ODM models use existing molds.

Step 3: PCB Assembly & Motor Installation

The circuit board is assembled and tested, then the motor is installed and calibrated to the correct frequency (typically 31,000–40,000 strokes/minute for sonic models).

Step 4: Battery Integration & Charging Test

The battery is installed and the charging circuit is tested. Each unit is charged and discharged to verify battery performance meets spec.

Step 5: Final Assembly

All components are assembled into the handle. Waterproofing seals are applied (IPX7 rating requires full submersion testing).

Step 6: Quality Control

Each unit undergoes functional testing: motor performance, charging, timer function, and pressure sensor (if applicable). Defective units are rejected and reworked or scrapped.

Step 7: Packaging

Approved units are packaged with brush heads, charging cable, and instruction manual. Custom packaging is applied at this stage.

FAQ

How long does the full production process take?

For ODM orders: 25–35 days. For OEM with new tooling: 45–60 days after sample approval. Rush production is available at additional cost.

Can I visit the factory during production?

Yes. We welcome factory visits and can arrange video walkthroughs for buyers who cannot travel. Contact us to schedule.

What QC standards does OQPO follow?

We follow AQL 2.5 inspection standards. Third-party inspection (SGS, Bureau Veritas) is available upon request before shipment.
